Las Cruces is the second largest — and fastest growing — community in New Mexico. It is located on the edge of the Chihuahuan Desert at the foot of the Organ Mountains (elevation 3900 feet) and on the banks of the Rio Grande River. A population of approximately 100,000 friendly people, abundant sunshine, and stunning mountain/river valley surroundings make it an ideal place to live.
The Las Cruces Public School system has 24 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, four high schools and 1 vocational high school. New Mexico State University has a 900 acre campus with a student body of 20,000 drawing students from all 50 states and 71 foreign countries.
In 2007 Inc. Magazine rated Las Cruces #15 in Boomtowns, and #9 in its Top 20 Small Cities for Doing Business. The July, 2006 issue of AARP Magazine listed Las Cruces in its 5 Dream Towns.
NASA White Sands Test Facility evaluates hazardous materials, space flight components and rocket propulsion systems. This nearby facility is an important contributor to the Las Cruces economy.
